At Baskèts, we are constantly on the lookout for striking and remarkable brands, which often brings us to the performance segment. It is therefore no surprise that the biggest players in the sneaker market come from sports and athletics. One brand that has been on our radar for quite some time and has recently been added to our range is the shoe brand On. The sneakers from Switzerland have gained some fame over the past 10 years and now On sneakers are also an absolute big name in the lifestyle sector. The story of On Running - the newest brand in our range - began less than 15 years ago in Switzerland, more precisely in Zurich. Three friends (and avid runners) Olivier Bernhard, David Allemann and Caspar Coppetti came up with a revolutionary idea that led to On Running in January 2010. The so-called "On Clouds" won the ISPO Brand New Award just one month later - the production of On Running could begin on a larger scale and in July the first On sneakers were already on the shelves of the first retailers.
On sneakers went from Zurich to worldwide fame: What started as a business in Zurich quickly transformed into a global success story. The running shoes with the Clouds are now sold on every continent and in thousands of stores. Runners all over the world trust the shoes with the characteristic soles, whether they run on roads, tracks or paths. Also remarkable is On Running's commitment to sustainability, which is evident in the On Running Cyclon Circularity Program. This offers a subscription system for running shoes with 100% recyclable options - a remarkable step towards a greener future!
On running shoes are not limited to running routes. On running has expanded its influence into the lifestyle sphere. Notable collaborations with icons such as Roger Federer, LOEWE and Highsnobiety have taken On to new heights. The collaboration with Swiss tennis maestro Roger Federer, a major shareholder and figurehead of On, brought the brand into the spotlight. Casual and tennis sneakers with the Federer brand appeared. In 2021, the Swiss company went public!
What sets On Running apart is not only its compelling story, but also the technology behind its success. At its core is the patented CloudTech system, a revolutionary cushioning system based on individual chambers in the midsole. The first prototypes were made from simple pieces of garden hose, which is yet another testament to the brand's innovative spirit. On Running has not only revolutionized running since 2010, but continues to grow.
