Heritage & Philosophy

Founded in 1989 in North Vancouver, Arc’teryx takes its name from the Archaeopteryx fossil, symbolizing evolutionary advancement in outdoor performance. From its beginnings as a small climbing-hardware workshop, the brand has remained focused on precision, innovation and a deep respect for the mountain environment, setting the benchmark for technical outerwear and equipment.

Signature Technology & Materials

Arc’teryx pioneered the use of GORE-TEX® Pro fabric in alpine jackets, combining waterproofness, breathability and durability in extreme conditions. Seam-sealed construction, bonded hems and articulating patterns ensure a flawless fit and maximum freedom of movement. Core collections feature waterproof shells, insulated midlayers with Coreloft™ and abrasion-resistant softshells, all engineered to perform in alpine climbing, ski touring and back-country adventures.

Brand Vision & Evolution

Driven by a relentless pursuit of function and form, Arc’teryx continuously refines its products through rigorous field testing and close collaboration with athletes. Recent initiatives include recycled and bluesign®-approved fabrics to reduce environmental impact, as well as modular gear systems that adapt to diverse conditions. By balancing cutting-edge research with artisan craftsmanship, the brand maintains its reputation for uncompromising quality and progressive design.
