Building Sprezza and a community around style
Clayton started Spr.ezza as a creative outlet, a way to curate information and connect people through personal style. “I saw people becoming tired of influencers promoting things they didn’t believe in,” he says. “I wanted to do something different, something rooted in trust, curation, and storytelling.”
For Clayton, good style isn’t about following trends, it’s about authenticity. “The people who are best dressed aren’t trying to cosplay as someone they’re not,” he explains. “They’re just living their lives, doing what they love, and their personal style naturally follows.”
Sprezza is short for the Italian word sprezzatura, which is an expression to do things with ease; to move effortlessly. “I’ve always loved the idea of moving through life in a natural way, never forced. So that’s why I chose Sprezza as the name”
Why the Allerdale stands out
“The Allerdale isn’t trying to be loud or hype-driven,” Clayton says. “That’s what makes it refreshing.” New Balance focused on craftsmanship and purpose.
“It’s a walking shoe, which sounds simple, but that’s kind of the point,” he explains. “It’s built for slowing down, for comfort, for actually being worn, not just collected.” The Allerdale is part of New Balance’s ‘Made in UK’ range, crafted in the Flimby factory, with inspiration drawn from the surrounding Allerdale district.
With its dark brown leather upper, hiking-inspired tread, and premium materials, the shoe reflects a blend of vintage outdoor wear and everyday versatility, a balance that Clayton appreciates.
Blending classic menswear with modern influence
Clayton’s approach to style is genreless, mixing elements from different fashion movements. “We’re in a moment where we can blend vintage workwear, sneakers, tailored clothing, and outdoor gear all in one look,” he says.
Comfort as biggest flex
What ultimately makes the Allerdale a standout for Clayton is its understated confidence. “We’ve been stuck in this cycle where every sneaker is about exclusivity and hype,” he says. “But honestly? Right now, I think being comfortable is actually the biggest flex.”
