BROOKS

Heritage & Philosophy

Brooks traces its roots to 1914 as the H. K. Butler Shoe Company in Philadelphia, but its true running focus emerged in 1972 when Olympic marathon champion Frank Shorter wore Brooks on the podium. Since then, Brooks has dedicated itself solely to runners: crafting shoes and apparel that honor the sport’s history while pushing performance forward.

Signature Technology & Materials

At the heart of Brooks shoes are proprietary cushioning systems, DNA LOFT and DNA FLASH, infused with nitrogen for a blend of softness and energy return. Segmented Crash Pads adapt to each footstrike, and the GlideRoll Rocker geometry promotes a smooth, propulsive stride. Uppers combine engineered mesh and lightweight knits to balance breathability, support and fit, all informed by decades of gait analysis.

Brand Vision & Evolution

Guided by the belief that “a run can change a day, a life, the world,” Brooks invests in bio-mechanical research and innovation to empower every runner’s unique “Run Signature.” Its in‑house Run Research Lab studies motion paths to refine fit and reduce injury, while new initiatives explore sustainable materials and designs that honor both athlete and planet. Brooks continues to evolve as a runner‑centric brand, blending scientific rigor with an unwavering passion for the run.
