What happens when you step away from the decks and into the open air?
To celebrate the launch of the ON x PAF collaboration, we caught up with Samuel Deep to find out how he navigates his transition from late-night DJ to high-performance athlete. As it turns out, shifting gears from commanding a dancefloor to pushing his physical limits requires a unique mindset; one that is surprisingly quiet.
You might expect a DJ to have a carefully curated playlist for every run. But for Samuel, the ultimate running partner is complete silence.
"When I start running, you actually enter a certain state with yourself. You enter a different mindstate, a different mindset with yourself."
Instead of plugging in, he chooses to unplug completely. He shares that he always runs without music, preferring the natural sounds around him to get closer to himself.
For Samuel, running isn’t just about fitness; it is a mental reset. Without the distraction of a beat, his mind has the space to wander, reflect, and create.
He describes his solo runs as a kind of internal Q&A session. While pacing himself, ideas naturally surface. He finds himself processing work projects or simply reflecting on life. It is during these quiet miles that creative breakthroughs happen.
When asked to sum up the feeling of crossing his personal finish line in just one word, Samuel did not hesitate:
Fulfilled.
Whether you are looking to stillness after a heavy week or searching for your next creative spark, the ON x PAF collection is designed to support that journey.
