Heritage & Philosophy
Welter Shelter was conceived during a fierce November storm in Amsterdam, when a €500 wool coat failed under torrential rain and wind. Determined to “do it better,” the founders set out to create outerwear that offers genuine protection without sacrificing style. Since its launch, the label has embodied the spirit of all‑weather resilience, combining technical expertise with a clean, urban aesthetic that reflects its Dutch roots.
Signature Technology & Materials
Welter Shelter jackets marry premium natural fibers with cutting‑edge performance membranes. Exteriors feature blends of Patagonian ecological wool, Italian cottons and Scottish wool, bonded to a three‑layer waterproof, breathable and wind‑resistant membrane for a 10 000 mm water column and 5 000–8 000 g/m²/24h breathability. Insulation is provided by Meida®, a micro‑fiber system that delivers the warmth of five woolen sweaters in just 0.8 cm of thickness, keeping you comfortable down to –15 °C without bulk.
Brand Vision & Evolution
Looking ahead, Welter Shelter remains committed to refining its fusion of form and function. The brand continues to develop new membrane technologies and explore sustainable fabric sourcing, all while maintaining small‑batch European production. Each collection expands on the core promise of everyday, all‑season outerwear: designed for the city yet ready for whatever the weather brings.
