To celebrate the release, we meet up with Zion, one of our store team members and sneaker and hiphop fanatic. Zion’s passion for sneakers and hip-hop runs deep and goes beyond the shelves. This started when he was around 12 years old and a sneaker outlet store opened just around the corner of his school. “I went there almost twice a week to check out all the sneakers, at a certain point a knew almost al styles out of my head.”. Zion has worked at Baskèts for several years now, and his days in the store are never like another. “Working in the footwear industry isn’t necessarily good for my wallet haha. But I love to work here since I stay up-to-date with what’s new and I can be the first to check out releases like this one.”
For Zion, a day isn’t complete if a client doesn’t leave the store with a big smile and a fresh pair of new sneakers. ”What I love about this sneaker is how it bridges the gap between past and present. It’s got that old-school vibe but with a fresh, modern twist. It’s a nod to where sneaker culture started and where it’s heading.” For him, sneakers are a form of self-expression, much like hip-hop. These two elements share a common thread of creativity, rebellion, and self-expression. “It’s always important to make sure that a pair of sneakers matches your overall style. If I need something to boost my outfit and a new pair of sneakers is just the last piece of the puzzle, I’m quite frankly directly sold.”
