Founded by Xander and Nelleke three years ago, this brand represents new principles in the fashion industry. The clothing is produced locally, socially, and circularly in the heart of Amsterdam-West, in its own fashion atelier. They bring back the Joy of making and showcase how they create clothing with a team of people from diverse backgrounds. The local aspect is crucial. Instead of producing behind closed doors far away, they do it right here in Amsterdam, where everyone can come and discover the why, what and the how New Optimist makes their clothing.

The collaboration between New Optimist and Baskèts has emerged from a shared love for Amsterdam and local craftsmanship. Capsule collection
The New Optimist x Baskèts collection is the result of an inspiring collaboration where both brands blend their unique styles. This capsule collection includes a denim suit of 100% recycled denim, a hoodie, a sweater and a T-shirt of recycled cotton, and a cosy jacket of 100% wool. The core message of New Optimist is also reflected in this collection: ‘Spread your optimism. Wear it.’ You’ll find circular design principles in every detail, right down to the 100% organic cotton labels. The collection exudes a handmade look, showcasing craftsmanship prominently. This is apparent in the raw edges, showcasing how the clothing has been made with care and attention to detail.
